SUMMARY

Turbine engineer with significant customer and international experience, and technical expertise in field service, manufacturing, and engineering of General Electric industrial, utility, and combined cycle steam turbine generators with some gas turbine experience. Presently servicing steam turbines specializing in Mechanical Hydraulic (MHC) control systems, fixing turbine operational and maintenance problems, in addition to routine maintenance outage work.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Turbine Field Engineer 2003-Present

Service of steam turbines for several customers. Work approximately six months per year in both domestic and international power plant locations, primarily on GE steam turbines, but also Siemens, Parsons, Westinghouse, and GEC units.
Control system retrofit work, and aftermarket application engineering consulting work.

General Electric Co. 1979-2003

Steam Turbine Systems Engineer, Electrical Design - Schenectady, NY
1998-2003

Designed steam turbine electrical systems, developed motor control circuits, made electrical wiring diagrams, electrical connection outlines, and selected turbine electrical devices. Assisted with field problems, both mechanical and electrical. Made over 200 electrical drawings.
Served as electrical expert, working with customers and engineering firms to design and integrate turbines purchased with customer plant electrical systems.
Developed new turbine prototype installation and factory assembly procedures, assisted in design reviews for A-10, D-10, D-11, DX2, and A-14 code steam turbines. Was heavily involved with turbine installation, factory alignment, and startup problems during combined cycle build up.
Dispositioned valve and deviating turbine parts and assemblies on the shop floor on a daily basis. Ran the Valve Integration forum in which the team worked on projects to reduce quality defects, change drawings, procedures as necessary, resulting in significant defect reductions.
Went out on request on turbine field assignments to South America, Caribbean, and USA as a field engineer on loan to fix complex turbine alignment, maintenance, and control system problems. Also served as turbine installation and service expert within Steam Turbine Engineering.

Installation and Service Methods Engineer - Schenectady, NY 1991-1998

· Developed and maintained steam turbine installation and service methodology for the GE service business. This involved daily contact, working with regional and international field service engineers to address issues and support the needs of over 1,000 field service personnel.
Developed technology such as laser alignment, alignment and service methodology for new turbine designs such as A-8, A-10, C-8, D-11, G9, G3 and base mounted steam turbines.
Authored the Field Engineering Manual, maintenance forms, start up reports, and other documentation used by the entire field engineering group. Developed new material and updated articles based on new technology, methodology, and field service needs..
Went out as field engineer on loan approximately twenty times to fix difficult control system, vibration / alignment, installation, and maintenance problems. Was heavily involved with steam path replacements, new steam turbine and generator designs, and served as installation and maintenance expert with the Schenectady, NY engineering department.
Installed a 7F gas turbine, worked on several 7EA model gas turbines, and installed 235 MW prototype D-11 combined cycle steam turbine.

Aircraft Engine Test Engineer - Lynn, Ma. 1986-1991

Ran aircraft engine compressor tests, ram air and altitude testing within the development test facility. Testing included performance mapping, stall margin testing, inlet guide vane optimization, blade stress, and engine ingestion testing of F404 F-18 fighter, T700 helicopter, CF34 / TF34 engines and derivatives. Supervised test labor and operated complex of approximately five test cells as an operating engineer, responsible for test set up, operations, maintenance, and safely.
Was chosen to set up maintenance of entire test complex consisting of over thirty test cells. Set up maintenance warehouse, system, and purchasing of materials including maintenance of steam distribution system from power plant. Saved over $600,000 in steam consumption per year.

Steam Turbine Engineer - Factory and Field Lynn, Ma. 1982-1986

Dispositioned and repaired deviating turbine parts and assemblies on the factory floor. Products included governor and control parts, valves, bearings, nozzles, castings, large fabrications, turbine assembly. Full knowledge of turbine materials, design considerations, manufacturing processes, factory testing requirements, and welding procedures.
Field problems with installations and older units, rebuilds, retrofits, steam path replacements, upgrades. Represented engineering department on warrantee issues.

Steam Turbine Field Engineer - International 1979-1982

Installed, serviced, and started up turbines in South America, Asia, Caribbean, and Canada. Significant experience working in oil refineries, paper mills, chemical plants, mines, desalinization facilities, and utility plants.
